Oct 7 - Rehearsal Summary

Our rehearsal before the long weekend was packed with good musical learning!

Here's a quick summary:

• Welcome Song

• Warm Up - Stand Up Song (reviewing how to stand as a singer)

• Learn “Bintang Kecil” Indonesian (Star Songs)

  • Reviewed English section

• Review “Seasons” - chorus, verse 1, and added verse 2

• Began introducing the chorus of "Our Story"

• Played "Little Sally Walker" circle game

• Goodbye Song

We also enjoyed musical movement to the star songs, reviewed 8th note and quarter notes (titi and ta) with the book "Rhythm Rescue," composed our own rhythmic composition using 8th notes and quarter notes, and tried them on the drum.

Sept 30 - Rehearsal Summary

We had a great combined rehearsal with the Juniors plus good work with Adam on Orff!

Here's a quick summary:

• Started with a solfege dance using la so mi. Prepping for a toolbox game/improv dance. 

• Reviewed "Stars" in English

• Worked on "Seasons" (chorus) and the Autumn verse.

• Orff session with Adam and the Juniors!

   1. This song is created by a former Prep Chorister who is now in the Junior Chorus!

7. Started "All Are Welcome" - storybook plus singing

   1. introduction to "mi re do" patterns through the book

8. "Bluebird" - circle game plus singing

9. Started "Rhythm Rescue" - storybook plus theory

   1. ear training - echoing rhythms

   2. introduction to quarter notes ('ta') and 8th note pairs ('ti ti')

   3. sight reading - speaking/clapping rhythms in the book

10. "Colours" song
